ODOT Announces Request for Proposals for Nevi Formula Program Funding Implementation in Oklahoma

  • ODOT

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) will release a Request for Proposals (RFP) in July 2023 for the implementation of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) NEVI Formula Program Funding. Proposals will be due in September 2023.

In advance of the release of the RFP in July, ODOT will host a virtual Industry Forum to provide an overview of the draft RFP and answer initial questions on Tuesday, May 30 at 10 a.m. to interested proposers.  Those interested are asked to register for the forum and then the meeting link will be provided.

Proposers selected to receive funding will be required to follow all FHWA NEVI Formula Program final rules and Oklahoma state laws. This includes requirements in the following documents:

To be eligible for NEVI funding to support electric vehicle charging infrastructure installation, sites must be no more than 50 miles apart from preexisting or planned sites in designated corridors, within 1-mile driving distance of an interchange (exit), have four charging stations with simultaneous charging at 150kW each, have 24/7/365 accessibility and have broadband or cellular capability.

ODOT recommends that interested applicants coordinate with the electric distribution utility serving their prospective NEVI site, inquire about sufficient power capabilities, and determine permitting and zoning requirements with the local municipality. The federal funding can cover up to 80% of eligible NEVI project expenses, and a minimum of a 20% non-federal cost share is required.

ODOT encourages organizations to establish partnerships with service providers to execute the project successfully.
