Transportation Planning Grant

On behalf of the Southwest Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SORTPO) encompassing 16 counties in the ASCOG and SWODA regions we are excited to share information on a transportation planning grant for Federal Fiscal Year 2022.

The funding for this grant is from a portion of the State Planning and Research (SPR) funding allocated by ODOT to SORTPO. The purpose of the transportation planning mini grant is to provide municipalities an opportunity to apply for a grant that will assist in activities that support the regional transportation planning process.

Eligible activities include activities such as but not limited to collection of data, traffic studies, active living/bicycle/pedestrian/trail plan, studies to identify travel barriers in low-income areas, development of a sign inventory, corridor safety audit, intersection analysis, signalization timing study, corridor studies, complete streets plan.

The grant cannot be used for capital expenses such as sidewalks, roads, signalization.

This transportation planning grant is reimbursable and requires a 20% cash match. Grant applications will be accepted through Friday, February 3, 2023, and can be submitted via mail or email to:

The grants will be reviewed and scored by the SORTPO Technical Committee and approved by the SORTPO Policy Board in March 2023. The project must be completed by September 30, 2023.
